Mission & Vision
Our mission is to come alongside all families within Hunt and surrounding counties, partnering with them to raise the next generation of committed lifelong disciple makers of Jesus Christ.
We envision children's ministry as family ministry, where the home is the primary source of discipleship. Where the church acts as a community and authority, leading as a critical partner for parents, helping to nurture transformation in children.
We encourage and yearn for the opportunity to partner with your family. We encourage participation in all activities each week and provide resources through the following links to help reenforce and apply at home through your own family worship.
Family & Multi-Generational Worship
We greatly encourage family worship at Christ Community. Parents are the proven primary influencers in their children's life. The Bible teaches in Deuteronomy 6 that that we should train a child diligently. We want to partner with you as walk through these vital years of discipleship to your child. Family worship is a proven and effective process to place God as the priority in your home and help your child grow to be a disciple maker. Our weekly activities and resources are geared for this process.
We also encourage multi-generational worship on Sunday where all ages gather to worship each week. This is a great opportunity to help children know they are welcomed, learn to listen, be mindful of others, and be prepared for adulthood as a disciple maker.
The family room across the hall from the nursery is available for nursing mothers and for young children as they continue to mature. A live service feed is present. Busy boxes are also available for young children as well as notepads for older children.
Nursery
Nursery care is available for babies and toddlers, birth to 36 months, on Sunday mornings during the discipleship class hour and the morning worship service. During the school year nursery care is available on Wednesday evenings for volunteers.
Sunday Ministry
PEAK Kids (Prepare, Evangelize, Anchor, Kids) utilizes the Biggest Story curriculum, New City Catechism, and many experienced and trained teachers to provide a rich environment best suited to the developmental age of each child.
Because we believe knowledge of and the application of God’s Word to be foundational to the life of every believer, we remain committed to the systematic teaching of His Word. To that end, age group appropriate Sunday morning Bible classes are provided for children age 3 through grade 8 (high school students are encouraged to attend adult classes). Our weekly teaching ministry is designed to partner with parents by building the foundational pillars of faith and a biblical worldview. We believe our curriculum to be God-centered, Bible-saturated, and Christ-exalting. We also believe that it best allows parents and the church to work in partnership instructing the mind, engaging the heart, and nurturing the faith of the next generation.
Classes meet from 9:30 – 10:15 every Sunday morning. Breakfast is provided between 9:00 and 9:30 focused on healthy options.
Awana Clubs
Awana Clubs, for children age 3 thru Grade 6, are intended to immerse children in the Word of God. This is an intensive scripture memory program, which encourages parental participation throughout the child’s progression, using guided curriculum. The goal is to train children to know, love, and serve Christ, and to give opportunity to do this within their home and their church family. Club members receive regular recognition for their accomplishments, and are motivated with a variety of fun incentives, awards, team competitions, and games. Weekly meetings are designed to be fun and interactive while encouraging healthy and Godly relationships with one another, as well as with adult leaders.
Awana Clubs meet every Wednesday evening during the school year from 6:00 to 7:30.
Children's Choir
During the school year before Awana, our children's choir meets upstairs in the trinity room for practice. We want our children to learn to sing joyfully to our King and to help them learn theologically rich songs for them to carry on into their whole life.
Choir meets every Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:00 before Awana
We want to meet you!
If you have any questions or are simply new, please feel free to find Daniel and Lanie Higgins for more on our children's ministry.
